Chairman’s Message

Mr. Faustin Gakindu Mugwika
Chairman, KNCCI – Tharaka Nithi Chapter

In a world marked by rapid transformation and ever-evolving economic realities, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) – Tharaka Nithi Chapter stands firm in its commitment to not only adapt, but to lead.

Our vision is clear: to build a Chamber that is responsive, inclusive, and bold in shaping a resilient, opportunity-rich environment for our members and for Kenya’s economy at large.

To fulfill this vision, we are strategically focusing on six core pillars that will guide our actions, deepen our impact, and amplify our relevance — both locally and globally:

1. Advocacy – Giving Business a Stronger Voice

We are placing the Chamber at the heart of public policy discourse — pushing for a regulatory and business environment that is fair, transparent, and growth-friendly. Whether it’s championing “Buy Kenya, Build Kenya”, fighting against unfair trade practices, or ensuring SMEs have a say in county and national development plans, we are unapologetically pro-business.

2. Networking and Collaboration – Strengthening Strategic Ties

Business thrives on connection. We are enhancing our capacity to convene and connect — building powerful alliances locally and internationally. Through forums, trade expos, B2B engagements, and digital platforms, we will leverage partnerships to unlock new markets, investment flows, and innovation across all sectors.

3. Institutional Strengthening – Building a Chamber for the Future

A strong Chamber is built on leadership, agility, and credibility. We are investing in systems, governance, and human capacity to make KNCCI – Tharaka Nithi a model of professionalism and service excellence. From training our members to digitizing our operations, we are equipping our ecosystem to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

4. Economic Diplomacy – Flying the Business Flag Across Borders

Kenya must trade with the world — but first, it must trade with itself. We are deepening ties within regional economic blocs while projecting Tharaka Nithi’s potential globally. Through economic diplomacy, we will position our county and members as valuable contributors to Kenya’s international trade, tapping into export markets and attracting inward investments.

5. Market Linkages – Opening Doors to Trade and Growth

We are committed to turning market access from a dream into a deliverable. Our agenda is to expand the horizons of our members — connecting them to county procurement opportunities, value chains, and export pathways. With deliberate support, we will help enterprises move from informal to formal, from local to global.

6. Inclusivity – Empowering Every Entrepreneur

We cannot grow the economy by leaving half of it behind. That is why women, youth, and persons with disabilities are at the heart of our mission. We are creating space, amplifying voices, and linking marginalized groups to resources, training, and funding. True prosperity is shared prosperity.

As we look ahead, we know the path will not be easy. The current economic climate is uncertain, and the demands on businesses are steep. Yet we are undaunted. With courage, clarity, and collaboration, we are confident that our six-pillar strategy will not only steady the ship — but accelerate it.

Let us remember: KNCCI was founded as the reliable anchor for Kenyan businesses. That purpose remains true. In Tharaka Nithi, we are rekindling that spirit — of enterprise, unity, and progress.

Together, let us build the Chamber we deserve. Let us shape the economy we envision.
